Puppyhood: Year One, Day One

I never believed we’d actually make it this far.  I never believed that one year ago when we got Flynn, when he was barking at us, nipping at us, driving us to the point of tearful hysterics, that we would have lasted one whole year–but we did.

As much as he’s driven me crazy, as many times as I’ve felt that we may have made a mistake picking him or having a dog altogether, I’m thankful for the turd.   (more…)


Puppyhood: Day Three Hundred and Thirty-Four

It has been about four months to the day that I have written a post about the Flynn pup.  This opens up a number of lingering questions that I haven’t been asked, but could very well have been asked if anyone was actually reading what I was writing: what happened to him? Puppyhood: Day Two-Hundred and Twelve

I imagine when I say what I’m going to say it will strike a chord in parents immediately:

Have you ever been afraid–not for yourself, but for your child, in a very sudden way, where one minute you’re calm, but everything changes, and the adrenaline’s pumping, and your child is making noises that make you afraid for how okay they are, and you’re running, you’re running, throwing on shoes, grabbing a bazooka, and heading out the door to face whatever unknown is out there? Life: Mid October Update

It’s really weird to think that October is close to half way over.  Sure, it’s the 12th and there are about 2 1/2 sets of 12 days in the month, but 12 days in is still 12 days in which is much further than it feels like we should be right now. And that’s in large part due to the fact that this month has been busy with puppy sitting and video making and art drawing and what not, and I don’t see any signs of it slowing up now. (more…)
